A philosophy major with an arts degree, even as a university student Peter enjoyed critical thinking and discussions of right and wrong. But he didn’t want to just talk about his ideals; he wanted to do something big with them. That same drive and determination to make a positive difference is what shaped Peter’s entire architectural career, as well as his position on protecting the environment.
Peter sees architecture as the ideal mix of two of his passions: protecting the environment and effecting change. Through his work, he’s been able to influence how people live, the way they treat the environment, and the way cities are formed. In many ways, his passion and track record for making better buildings defined modern-day sustainable architecture—first throughout Canada, then throughout the world. Today, his work continues to inspire new generations of architects and environmental advocates.
"Wherever I go in the world to practice architecture, I bring the same attitude. I’m always focused on sustainable design and simplicity."
There’s so much more to architecture than what meets the eye. Every place has a story, and as we design, we help tell it. Our work enlivens neighborhoods, builds communities, energizes the citizenry, and respects and protects our planet.
The most effective designs are those that work symbiotically with the natural environment. They help protect human health and preserve the vitality of Earth’s many ecosystems. They also help conserve the planet’s resources—sometimes even replenishing them.
How to live a sustainable life? There’s so much more to architecture than what meets the eye. Every place has a story, and as we design, we help tell it. Our work enlivens neighborhoods, builds communities, energizes the citizenry, and respects and protects our planet.
